Edge Evolution Programmer for the 2004-2006 Ford F-150
Edge's latest programmer for the 2004 & up F-150 features three "canned" performance tunes you can choose from - the first is a transmission change ONLY type of program that is compatible with 87 octane fuel, the second is a towing-compatible program that can still be used with 87 octane fuel, and then last, a performance program that requires the use of premium fuels (91 octane or higher). Note: While Edge claims this tune can be used with lower octane levels, you do run the risk of detonation when doing so, thus we advise following the design recommendations and use program 3, the performance tune, only with premium fuels of at least 91 octane.
The Evolution programmer also features the ability to display up to 4 of the 19 possible parameters it can monitor at one time - the unit must be connected to your OBD-II port in order to do this. It can also download to your PC a maximum of 60 seconds of recorded data from a maximum of 5 different parameters so that you can view that information.
This unit also gives you the standard abilities most tuners offer, such as the ability to adjust your tire size and gear ratio to recalibrate your speedometer, and allows minor adjustments to the rev limiter, shift points & pressures, and full-throttle ONLY changes for fuel delivery.
Additionally, the Evolution unit allows you to do informal "testing" such as 0-60 times, eighth mile and 60 foot times, your reaction times, and a rough estimate of power level of your vehicle. (Note: Keep in mind that these functions, while great and entertaining features to be sure, do not have the accuracy of, nor take the place of an accurate chassis dyno or actual track testing.)
